So I have these podcasts for this running programme thingy and the music is mostly doof doofy, which is fine as far as it goes. Gets the job done but I decided to make some mixes of my own music in Garage Band. I went through this whole thing of trying to break down the BPM appropriately, but I swear you guys, that is so complicated. I gave up and just chose "exercisey sounding" music in my collection already. It's a bit doof doof, but it's my doof doof. The only really twangy song is Ryan Bingham's Bread and Water but I'll put more effort into finding appropriate country things for the next installment. I have a track from Zydeco legend Clifton Chenier but on reflection it has a rather ... Benny Hill vibe and sort of weirds me out.

So of course I did an 8tracks of the songs I used. Curiously, I put more time/effort into the music than I ever do into the running.

Interesting program.

When I'm at the gym (though at the moment on enforced hiatus to a bloody summer cold - though I will play cricket tomorrow) it is rock'n'roll all the way.

I've filled my old iPod with all hard rockin' tunes. It does the job.

I have 17,000 items in iTunes to chose from and not one of them is AC/DC.

my gym is in my shed. (although given my recent activity it might as well be in my head) and usually I just have RN on. So I often pump a weak alloy to Phil Adams or sometimes Lucky Oceans. If I'm really unlucky its the dreadful New Dimensions new age crap.

Yeah I use the time to listen to podcasts too but on this programme there are alternating periods of running and walking -- 60 seconds run, 90 seconds walk etc for 30 mins the first week, week 2 is 90 seconds jog, 2 mins walk etc and so on until you work up to running 25-30 mins. SO, in the early weeks (which I am redoing b/c my last attempt at it was disrupted by various things) when the intervals are numerous and short, I lose track oh where I'm up to and need the podcast to tell me when to walk and when to run. When I'm just walking or after when the intervals are longer, I'll go back to podcasts probably. Had a walk last week listening to Point of Inquiry with Solomon Schimmel.

I accidentally surfed onto that New Dimensions page the other week and ran screaming in horror seconds later.

This is so sad. A tragedy if I may. Go get the "Powerage" album. It's Keef's favourite and should be yours as well.

I even have some Dylan on my iPod (Only 12556 songs but still haven't ripped most of my jazz and blues collection yet).

No Springsteen though. I have nothing of his.

Btw, I got a pair of Sennheiser CX-500s for my iPod. Great headphones. Though I use an older iPod for the gym with the regular Apple one.

You realise right when E St get together they have like four (4) lead guitars all going at the same time. And one of them's Little Steven whose worth ten rock and rollers otherwise. Don't talk to me about hard rock. Pshaw!

But it reminds me I should put Youngstown (the 'lectric version) on the next mix -- its too slow mostly but man that shit is like the Rocky theme for me. Inspiration, wise.

And some Dylan. Hm. I'm thinking Dead Man, Dean Man

Dead Man, Dead Man is from Shot of Love (1981) originally. The thing you need to understand about the Christianist albums is that sure the studio albums were comparatively cruddy -- altho' so was practically every album released in the early 80s if you listen to it today.

but LIVE -- man, those songs rock. With the gospel choir, and the bad. Great. Stuff. As long as you can skip through the horrible sermons on the bootlegs, the music is sold friggin'gold.

I used ta love listening to Bob ranting at audiences during his xtian years. weird X n. It's kind of the only uncontrolled, spontainious utterances from hiself around.
